ABOUT US

College decisions can have a lasting impact on a student’s academic experience, personal development, and future opportunities.
My Personal Dean was created to give students and families an experienced perspective when important decisions, challenges, and transitions arise throughout the college experience.
Founded by Samuel J. Lingrosso, a higher education leader and former academic dean, My Personal Dean brings years of higher education experience directly to students and families.
We work with students and families to understand their situation, evaluate their options, develop practical strategies, and determine the best way forward. Whether the issue involves academic decisions, changing majors, college policies, adjustment challenges, or planning for the semester ahead, each engagement is built around the circumstances and goals of the student.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every situation requires a different perspective, strategy, and set of next steps.
Our goal is simple: help students and families make informed decisions, develop effective strategies, and move forward with confidence.
College Can Be Complicated. You Don’t Have to Figure It Out Alone.

Meet the Dean
Samuel J. Lingrosso is the founder of My Personal Dean and a higher education professional with more than two decades of experience working with college students and navigating academic and institutional systems.
His career has included serving as an academic dean at Moorpark College, Director of Student Conduct and Ethical Development at California State University, Northridge, and political science faculty at Los Angeles Valley College.
He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University, an M.A. in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach, and a Master of Public Policy from Claremont Graduate University.
Drawing on his experience as a dean, professor, and student affairs leader, Samuel created My Personal Dean to give students and families access to experienced perspective, practical strategies, and personalized recommendations for navigating important college decisions.
Why My Personal Dean Exists
College can be confusing. The system is complex, and it was not designed to be easy for students or families.
Too many students make important decisions without having all the facts, costing them time, money, and opportunities.
We wanted to change that.
